When : 4th of July weekend 2009. That includes Friday and Sunday. So, the dates would be July 3-5 2009

Where : The Big Easy / New Orleans / The French Quarter

Now that the hard part is over, the organizers, RTH and yours truly, need to assess how many people to expect[/] in order to plan for accommodations. So far, 5 people have committed, that's me (necromantic_angel), Juliette, JBtatu, RTH, and her friend.

All right, let's get to the grit. We are planning to stay in a hotel in the French Quarter, there are a number of fairly reasonably priced hotels in or around the French Quarter. If we bunk together, two to a double bed, so four in a room, it shouldn't be too costly to stay in a hotel, that's why we need to know how many people are definitely joining.

The really vague plan for activities is...party. Walk around the city, and party. If you've been to N'awlins and know stuff that we can do, do inform us because it will make life so much easier for the organizers.

:::VERY IMPORTANT : If you're going to be under 18 during the dates mentioned, you must absolutely absolutely inform us.

Nice choice! I suggest you book everything as soon as possible. That's the weekend of the Essence Festival in New Orleans.. and that festival is MASSIVE every year.

I know because I've already sold a bunch of tickets to people and they don't necessarily live in the area.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have my passport in time.

I was unaware of Essence Fest. Well something to do that weekend. Aww too bad BooBear you won't have your passport in time, I hear the process can be quite backed up nowadays.

Haha I remember my passport tizzy few years ago. We had booked tickets to India or December 24th. We were Indians with Indian passports, simple eh! We get the notice that we will be becoming US citizens weekend after Thanksgiving. So in the holiday season within 24 days we had to apply and get our US passports, then send it to the Indian consulate for visas. Yay for expensive expedite services? Rip offs.

Getting my passport is just hell because...

a) I have to get a copy of my birth certificate because the one I have is just horrible. I sent my demand to the Health Department in Hawaii with my 10$ for the copy.. now I just have to wait for it.

b) my dual citizenship just complicates everything and apparently it's like a 4 month wait for a passport!

I was born in Hawaii, but never lived there for more than two years. My parents are both Canadian, and I've grown up in Canada.

As of June, all people crossing the border, by bus, by car, by foot, by plane, require a passport.

Getting my passport is harder because of the above mentioned criteria.



Well.. those who agreed to New Orleans, did they agree to that weekend? Maybe it's not the best weekend.
